2026 Tata Punch Spotted Testing: Tata Motors has been spotted testing 2026 Tata Punch prototypes, pointing to a mid-cycle update for both the ICE and electric versions of the sub-four-metre SUV. The sightings come as Tata Motors prepares an aggressive electric vehicle rollout for calendar year 2026, following major sales milestones in its EV portfolio.
The Punch facelift is expected to arrive alongside broader updates to Tata’s EV lineup, which includes multiple new models planned for next year.

Tata Motors’ EV Roadmap for 2026
Tata Motors recently confirmed plans to launch three new electric vehicles in India in 2026, after crossing 2.5 lakh EV sales in around five years. The company also marked another milestone with the Nexon EV becoming the first all-electric passenger vehicle in India to cross one lakh unit sales.
The upcoming EVs include:
- Tata Sierra EV
- Updated Tata Punch EV
- First model from the EMA-based Avinya series
While the Avinya range is expected to debut later in 2026 with either a sportback or SUV body style, the Sierra EV and Punch EV facelift are likely to arrive earlier in the year.
Punch Facelift: What the Spy Images Reveal

Test mules of the updated Tata Punch have been spotted multiple times in recent months. While it remains unclear whether the prototypes are ICE or electric variants, both versions are expected to receive similar exterior updates.
Spy images show a closed-off front grille, revised headlamp housings, and a bonnet design resembling the current Punch EV, with the DRLs positioned lower down. The lack of a visible front-mounted charging port suggests the prototype could be an ICE version, although the port may also be concealed under camouflage.
Other visible updates include:
- Blacked-out roof and pillars
- Electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators
- 360-degree camera module
- New aero-style alloy wheels
The side profile appears largely unchanged, while the rear is expected to get updated tail-lamps and a redesigned bumper.
Powertrain and Interior Updates Expected

Mechanically, the Punch ICE facelift is expected to continue with the existing 1.2-litre petrol engine, which has been in service since the model’s launch in late 2021. The Punch EV, which has been on sale for nearly two years, has already been confirmed to receive an update in 2026, with potential improvements to driving range and efficiency.
Inside, both versions are likely to get meaningful upgrades. Expected changes include a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a new steering wheel, a refreshed dashboard layout, and the addition of new features and technologies to keep the Punch competitive in its segment.
2026 Tata Punch Spotted Testing- Why This Update Matters
The Tata Punch has played a key role in strengthening Tata Motors’ presence in the sub-four-metre SUV segment, consistently featuring among the top-selling SUVs in India. Despite its success, the model has not received a major update so far, making the upcoming facelift an important step.
For buyers, the 2026 update is expected to bring fresh styling, added features, and EV improvements, while retaining the Punch’s familiar strengths in design and practicality.
More details on the updated Tata Punch, including timelines and variant-specific changes, are expected to emerge as testing continues closer to its planned 2026 launch.
