Kawasaki has launched the 2026 Kawasaki Vulcan S in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 8.13 lakh. The updated model brings minor revisions over the outgoing version, with the most significant change being compliance with E20 fuel norms. The price represents an increase of around Rs 54,000 compared to the MY24 Vulcan S.

The 2026 Kawasaki Vulcan S continues as Kawasaki’s entry-level cruiser for the Indian market and remains positioned as a niche offering with no direct competitors in its price bracket.

2026 Kawasaki Vulcan S Engine and E20 Update

Powering the 2026 Kawasaki Vulcan S is the familiar 649cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. The motor produces 61 hp at 7,500 rpm, while peak torque now stands at 61 Nm at 6,600 rpm, down marginally from the earlier model. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring an assist and slipper clutch.

The key mechanical update for 2026 is E20 fuel compatibility, aligning the motorcycle with India’s ethanol-blended petrol requirements. Apart from this change, the engine hardware and tuning remain largely unchanged.

Chassis, Suspension, and Braking

The 2026 Kawasaki Vulcan S continues to use a perimeter frame made from high-tensile steel, which is visually highlighted as part of the motorcycle’s design. Kawasaki says the compact engine layout and slim frame help keep the bike narrow around the knees, contributing to rider comfort.

Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking is managed by a 300 mm front disc and a 250 mm rear disc, supported by dual-channel ABS as standard.

Key dimensions remain unchanged, including a low 705 mm seat height and 130 mm of ground clearance. However, the 2026 model is now heavier by around 6 kg, with a kerb weight of 235 kg.

2026 Kawasaki Vulcan S Features and Ergonomics

One of the 2026 Kawasaki Vulcan S’s standout features continues to be Kawasaki’s ERGO-FIT system. This allows riders to adjust the seat, footpegs, and handlebars to suit their height and reach. Kawasaki offers multiple configurations across reduced, mid, and extended reach options, aimed at improving comfort and rider confidence.

For 2026, the Vulcan S is available in a new Metallic Flat Spark Black colour scheme, replacing the earlier Pearl Matte Sage Green option.

Market Position

Priced at Rs 8.13 lakh (ex-showroom), the 2026 Kawasaki Vulcan S does not have a direct rival in India. The closest alternative in terms of engine layout is the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, which is significantly more affordable, starting at Rs 3.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

For Indian buyers, the 2026 update ensures regulatory compliance without altering the Vulcan S’s core character. While the price hike may limit its appeal to a smaller audience, the Vulcan S continues to offer a unique cruiser experience in the Indian motorcycle market.
