Hyundai Creta Sales 2025: Hyundai Creta has crossed the 2 lakh sales mark in the 2025 calendar year, recording its highest-ever annual sales performance since its introduction in India. The milestone further cements Creta’s position as the country’s best-selling SUV on a cumulative basis over the past five years, despite rising competition in the midsize SUV segment.

Selling more than 2 lakh units in a single calendar year is considered a significant benchmark in the Indian automotive market, where many models take several years to reach similar volumes. For Creta, however, the achievement underlines its continued dominance nearly a decade after launch.

The 4.2m to 4.4m SUV segment is currently one of the most competitive in India, with over a dozen models on sale. Rivals include offerings from Maruti Suzuki, Kia, Tata Motors, Toyota, Honda, MG, Skoda, Volkswagen, and Citroën, with more entrants expected in early 2026.

Despite this intense competition, Creta has maintained a market share of around 34 percent in its segment. Industry data shows that the SUV has consistently topped sales charts, making it the highest-selling SUV in India on a cumulative basis from 2020 to 2025.

A Decade of Creta in India

The year 2025 also marks 10 years of Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. Over this period, the model has registered a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of more than 9 percent between 2016 and 2025, highlighting its sustained demand across multiple generations and updates.

Hyundai has expanded the Creta brand in recent years by introducing a wider range of powertrain options. These include 1.5-litre petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel engines, all of which continue to see strong customer demand. Earlier in 2025, the company also introduced the Creta Electric, marking the brand’s entry into electric mobility within this popular nameplate.

Changing Buyer Preferences

Hyundai says buyer preferences around the Creta have evolved significantly. Sunroof-equipped variants accounted for more than 70 percent of Creta sales in 2025, indicating a strong shift toward premium features in the segment. Diesel variants also remained relevant, contributing 44 percent of total Creta sales during the year.

Another notable trend has been the rise in first-time car buyers. Hyundai data shows that first-time buyers accounted for 32 percent of Creta customers in 2025, up from 13 percent in 2020.

What This Means for Buyers

For Indian buyers, Hyundai Creta Sales 2025 performance signals continued confidence in the model’s reliability, feature mix, and resale value. As newer competitors enter the segment, Creta’s ability to retain leadership suggests it remains a benchmark choice in the midsize SUV category.

With strong demand across petrol, diesel, and now electric variants, Hyundai Creta’s record-breaking 2025 further reinforces its long-term relevance in India’s evolving SUV market.
