Hyundai has taken the wraps off the Hyundai Staria Electric, its largest electric vehicle yet, at the Brussels Motor Show. The all-electric version of the Staria MPV will go on sale in the UK and Europe in the first half of 2026, marking Hyundai’s entry into the growing electric people-mover segment. The model is aimed at private family buyers as well as commercial shuttle and fleet operators, where demand for zero-emission vans and MPVs is rising.
The Hyundai Staria Electric will compete with electric MPVs such as the Kia PV5 and the Ford E-Tourneo Custom in overseas markets.

Built on the Staria’s Existing Platform
The Staria Electric is based on the same platform as the combustion-engined Staria that was introduced globally in 2021. This architecture is also shared with the Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. While the Staria was previously offered in Europe with diesel engines, Hyundai has now re-engineered it with a full-electric powertrain to meet tightening emissions regulations and fleet electrification goals.
Although it is not built on a dedicated EV platform, Hyundai has equipped the Staria Electric with several modern electric vehicle technologies, including an 800-volt electrical system for fast charging.
Hyundai Staria Electric Battery, Motor and Charging

Powering the Hyundai Staria Electric is an 84kWh lithium-ion battery paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing 219hp. The motor drives the front wheels, which suits the MPV’s people-carrier role and keeps the mechanical layout simple.
Hyundai claims a driving range of up to 400km on a full charge, making it suitable for both city use and longer inter-city trips. The Staria Electric also supports rapid charging thanks to its 800V system. According to the company, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 20 minutes using a compatible fast charger.
Performance figures include a top speed of 183kph and a towing capacity of up to 2,000kg, which is notable for an electric MPV of this size.
Familiar Design With Subtle EV Tweaks
Visually, the Hyundai Staria Electric looks very similar to the diesel-powered Staria. Hyundai has made only minor changes to differentiate the EV, such as a revised front bumper. The MPV retains its tall, futuristic silhouette, large windows, twin sliding doors and the distinctive wraparound LED light bar at the front.
The Staria Electric measures 5,255mm in length and 1,990mm in height, making it one of the largest electric passenger vehicles in its class. Its long wheelbase helps maximise interior space, which is a key selling point for family and commercial buyers.
Interior Focused on Comfort and Technology

Inside, the Hyundai Staria Electric features Hyundai’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, which includes two 12.3-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The setup supports over-the-air software updates, allowing Hyundai to add features or improve performance remotely over time.
Compared to the ICE Staria, the EV version gets a redesigned steering wheel, a more horizontally laid-out dashboard and a new centre console with more physical buttons, which could make it easier to use while driving.
Hyundai will offer the Staria Electric in two seating layouts. The 7-seat Luxury version provides 435 litres of boot space, while the 9-seat Wagon variant features sliding and foldable seats and up to 1,303 litres of luggage capacity. This flexibility makes it suitable for large families, airport shuttles and corporate transport.
What This Means for India
While Hyundai has not announced plans to bring the Staria Electric to India, the model highlights the company’s push into electric MPVs globally. With India’s electric vehicle market slowly expanding into larger body styles, such products could become relevant in the future, especially for fleet and commercial use.
Conclusion
The Hyundai Staria Electric represents a significant step in electrifying large MPVs, combining long range, fast charging and flexible seating in a single package. As it prepares for its European launch in 2026, it shows how electric mobility is now moving beyond small cars and SUVs into people-movers and commercial transport.
Disclaimer: The Hyundai Staria Electric has been revealed for international markets. Specifications, features and availability for India have not been confirmed and may differ if the model is introduced locally.
