Bajaj Auto has expanded its electric two-wheeler portfolio with the launch of the Bajaj Chetak C2501, priced at ₹91,399 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). With this introduction, the C2501 becomes the most affordable entry point into the Chetak range, aimed squarely at urban commuters looking for a simple, lightweight electric scooter from a well-established manufacturer.

Positioned as an entry-level Chetak
Unlike the existing Chetak models that focus on higher range and performance, the Bajaj Chetak C2501 has been developed as a more accessible alternative. Bajaj has reduced output, range, and size to bring costs down, while retaining core usability features. The result is a scooter that is lighter, easier to manage, and better suited to short city commutes.
Bajaj Chetak C2501 Battery, range and charging

The Bajaj Chetak C2501 is powered by a floorboard-mounted 2.5kWh battery pack. Bajaj claims a range of 113km on a single charge, which places it comfortably in the daily city-use category rather than long-distance riding. Charging is handled by a 750W offboard charger, with a claimed 0–100 percent charging time of 3 hours and 45 minutes.
The battery is backed by a standard warranty of three years or 50,000km, offering some reassurance to first-time EV buyers concerned about long-term ownership costs.
Hub motor and modest performance
In a first for the Chetak lineup, the Bajaj Chetak C2501 uses a hub-mounted motor instead of a mid-mounted setup. The motor produces 1.8kW of continuous power and 2.2kW at peak. This setup results in a claimed top speed of 55kph, putting the scooter in the same performance bracket as entry-level electric models such as the Honda QC1.
While this limits highway usability, it aligns well with city speed limits and short urban trips.
Chassis, suspension and braking

The C2501 also differs mechanically from its more expensive siblings. It uses a telescopic fork at the front and twin rear shock absorbers, replacing the leading-link and monoshock arrangement seen on higher Chetak variants. Despite its entry-level positioning, Bajaj has retained a front disc brake, which is still not standard across all scooters in this price range.
Lighter, smaller and more approachable
One of the biggest highlights of the C2501 is its weight and dimensions. With a kerb weight of just 108kg and a low 763mm seat height, it is among the lightest mainstream electric scooters currently on sale in India. This makes it particularly appealing to new riders, shorter users, and those upgrading from petrol scooters.
Design-wise, the scooter retains the familiar Chetak silhouette but looks noticeably slimmer. It gets a new round LED headlamp, repositioned indicators, a revised rear panel with a single tail-lamp, and blacked-out mirrors. Practical touches like flush-fitting pillion footpegs and a parking brake lock have been carried over.
Bajaj Chetak C2501 Features and storage
Despite the lower price, the C2501 is reasonably well equipped. It gets a reverse LCD display with Bluetooth connectivity for call alerts and music control, two riding modes (Eco and Sport), hill-hold assist, a reverse function, a USB charger, front apron storage, and a 25-litre underseat compartment.
The scooter is offered in six colour options, giving buyers ample choice at this price point.
Competition and market impact

At ₹91,399, the Bajaj Chetak C2501 undercuts several established electric scooters from known brands. Its closest rivals include the TVS iQube 2.2 and the Vida VX2 Go. Bajaj’s aggressive pricing is likely to increase pressure in the entry-level EV segment, especially among buyers prioritising brand trust and dealership reach.
Conclusion
With the launch of the Bajaj Chetak C2501, Bajaj Auto has clearly signalled its intent to widen the appeal of its electric scooter range. By focusing on affordability, low weight, and urban practicality, the new model strengthens Bajaj’s position in the fast-growing entry-level electric two-wheeler market, while offering buyers a credible alternative to both petrol scooters and higher-priced EVs.
