Indore EV Charging Station: Indore has taken a significant step towards expanding its electric mobility infrastructure with the inauguration of its first super EV charging station in the Vijay Nagar area. The new public facility has a total capacity of 200 kVA and is designed to significantly reduce charging time for electric vehicles.
According to officials, electric cars can now be charged in around 45 minutes to one hour using high-capacity DC fast chargers at the station. The development is aimed at making EV usage more practical for daily commuting as well as long-distance travel.

High-Capacity Chargers for Multiple Vehicle Types
The newly opened station features multiple charging options to cater to different categories of electric vehicles. A 120 kW supercharger is available for electric buses and cars, enabling a full charge within 45 minutes to an hour. For passenger cars, a 60 kW charger offers similar charging times.
In addition, slower chargers are also installed at the facility. A 22 kW charger can charge vehicles in approximately two to three hours, while a 7.4 kW charger takes about six hours. Charging tariffs range from ₹15 to ₹20 per unit, depending on the charger type, excluding GST.
An electric bus can also be fully charged within an hour at the station, supporting Indore’s growing electric public transport network.
Part of a Wider City-Level EV Push
Indore, which has topped the national cleanliness rankings for eight consecutive years, is now focusing on reducing vehicular pollution through electric mobility. According to Atal Indore City Transport Services Limited (AICTSL), public EV charging stations in the city are being developed on the lines of conventional petrol pumps.
These stations are planned to support two-wheelers, cars, three-wheelers, and buses. Some locations will also offer battery swapping facilities to reduce waiting times for users.
Current EV and Charging Infrastructure in Indore

The city currently has 41 operational public EV charging stations. An additional 47 charging stations are under development through the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Indore’s electric vehicle count stands at 68,649 units. This includes nearly 45,000 electric two-wheelers, over 4,200 electric cars, around 14,600 e-rickshaws, more than 4,300 electric three-wheelers, and 186 electric buses. At present, 120 electric buses are actively operating in the city’s public transport system.
Indore EV Charging Station- DC Fast Charging Explained
The Indore EV Charging Station uses DC fast charging technology, developed jointly by AICTSL and Roadgrid-Vinfast India. This system supplies direct current straight to the battery, bypassing the vehicle’s internal converter. While faster, DC charging is typically used for longer trips and larger vehicles due to higher costs and increased battery stress.
The commissioning of this station marks a key milestone in Indore’s EV roadmap, with more public charging facilities expected to become operational in the coming months.
