Kia has unveiled the all-new Kia EV2 at the ongoing Brussels Motor Show, marking its smallest and most accessible born-electric model so far. The EV2 becomes the sixth electric vehicle in Kia’s global EV line-up and sits at the entry point of the brand’s dedicated electric range.
Built on Kia’s E-GMP platform, the EV2 is positioned as a compact electric crossover aimed at urban users and small families. In global markets, it will rival models such as the Renault 4 and the upcoming Volkswagen ID Cross.

Compact Size, Familiar EV Styling

Despite being Kia’s smallest EV yet, the Kia EV2 borrows heavily from the design language seen on larger electric SUVs in the brand’s portfolio. It features a revised ‘tiger face’ front end, vertically stacked split headlamps and a boxy silhouette designed to maximise cabin space.
Body cladding is used extensively around the wheel arches and lower sections, while the tail-lamps visually merge with the rear cladding, giving the EV2 a rugged crossover stance. A sportier GT Line variant is also on offer, featuring more aggressive front and rear bumpers and larger wheels.
Wheel sizes range from 16 to 18 inches on standard variants, while GT Line models ride on 19-inch alloys. Dimensionally, the EV2 measures 4,060mm in length, 1,800mm in width and has a wheelbase of 2,565mm, placing it firmly in the compact EV crossover segment.
Kia EV2 Interior Inspired by India-Spec Models

Inside, the EV2’s cabin design will look familiar to Indian audiences, as it closely resembles the interior layout of the Kia Syros sold in India. The dashboard is dominated by a three-screen setup comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 5.3-inch climate control display and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen.
Kia has introduced a ‘lite’ version of its infotainment system on the EV2 to help reduce costs, while retaining over-the-air update capability. Physical buttons on the steering wheel and centre console remain, catering to ease of use.
Interestingly, the Kia EV2 will be offered in both four-seat and five-seat configurations. The four-seat version features individual reclining rear seats that can slide forward to free up boot space. Boot capacity stands at 403 litres for the four-seater and 362 litres for the five-seater, with both versions also offering a 15-litre front storage compartment.
Kia EV2 Features and Technology
The EV2 comes equipped with several premium features, including Digital Key 2.0, a Harman Kardon audio system, vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) functionality, and a Level 2 ADAS suite. These features position it competitively despite its compact footprint.
Kia EV2 Battery Options and Driving Range

Kia will offer the Kia EV2 with two battery options. The standard version uses a 42.2kWh LFP battery, delivering a claimed range of 317km (WLTP). A 61.0kWh NMC battery will be offered on Long Range variants, extending the range to 448km, with production scheduled to begin in June.
Standard variants use a 147hp front-mounted motor, while Long Range versions switch to a slightly lower-output 136hp motor. The EV2 operates on a 400V electrical system, with Kia claiming a 10–80 percent DC fast charge in 30 minutes. Buyers can choose between 11kW and 22kW AC chargers.
What It Means for India
While Kia has not confirmed India plans yet, the EV2’s size, features and battery options suggest it could be well-suited for urban Indian buyers if localised and competitively priced.
Conclusion
With the Kia EV2, Kia is clearly expanding its electric portfolio downward, targeting more affordable and compact segments. The combination of practical dimensions, flexible seating layouts and multiple battery options signals Kia’s intent to broaden EV adoption globally, with potential relevance for markets like India in the future.
