MG Majestor Spotted Testing Ahead of February Launch

MG Majestor Spotted Testing: JSW MG Motor India is gearing up to expand its premium SUV portfolio with the upcoming MG Majestor, which has now been spotted testing on Indian roads. The latest spy images show what appears to be a near-production version of the SUV, suggesting that the brand is in the final stages of preparation ahead of an expected launch in February.

The Majestor was first shown to the public at the Bharat Mobility Expo last year and is positioned as a more upmarket, top-spec derivative of the MG Gloster. With testing now moving into an advanced phase, MG seems ready to introduce this new flagship SUV to Indian buyers in the coming weeks.

Distinctive Exterior Design

The test vehicle reveals several styling changes that clearly differentiate the Majestor from the standard Gloster. At the front, the SUV features a redesigned grille finished with bold, square-shaped chrome elements, giving it a more imposing road presence. The lighting layout has also been revised, with the daytime running lamps placed higher up near the bonnet, while the main headlamp units sit vertically on the front bumper.

The white test car also wore blacked-out ORVMs, which appear to house cameras for a 360-degree view system, indicating that the Majestor will offer advanced driver assistance and parking aids. Although partially covered in camouflage, the five-spoke alloy wheel design was visible, hinting at a new wheel style exclusive to this variant.

Updated Rear Styling

At the rear, the MG Majestor is expected to move further upmarket. The spy shots show connected LED tail lamps stretching across the tailgate, along with prominent ‘Morris Garages’ lettering. The Majestor name badge could also be seen despite the camouflage, confirming that the SUV being tested is indeed the new model.

These changes are in line with MG’s strategy to give the Majestor a more premium and distinct identity compared to the regular Gloster sold today.

Interior Likely to Be More Premium

While MG has not revealed the cabin yet, the Majestor’s positioning at the top of the Gloster range suggests that it will come with a revised interior theme and additional features. Buyers can expect higher-quality materials, new trim finishes, and possibly extra technology over the standard Gloster, though details will only become clear closer to launch.

Proven Powertrain to Continue

Mechanically, the MG Majestor is expected to retain the same 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine offered on the higher Gloster variants. This motor produces 213bhp and 478Nm of torque and is paired with a torque converter automatic gearbox. A four-wheel-drive system is also expected to be standard, reinforcing its role as MG’s flagship SUV in India.

For buyers, this means the Majestor should offer the same strong performance and long-distance touring capability that the Gloster is known for, while adding a more premium feel.

Market Positioning and Rivals

Once launched, the MG Majestor will target buyers looking at premium three-row SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner Legender and Skoda Kodiaq. With its size, diesel powertrain and four-wheel-drive capability, MG will be aiming to attract customers who want a more feature-rich and distinctive alternative in this segment.

MG Majestor Spotted Testing- What This Means

The arrival of the MG Majestor will give Indian SUV buyers another option in the premium ladder-frame and large-SUV space. Those considering the Gloster may find the Majestor appealing if it offers more luxury and design differentiation without compromising on performance or capability.

With testing now in its final stages and a February launch expected, MG is likely to share more official details on pricing, features, and variants soon. For now, the Majestor appears set to become MG Motor India’s new flagship SUV.
