Skoda Kylaq Sales India: Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL) has closed calendar year 2025 with its highest-ever domestic sales, underlining the growing importance of India in the group’s global strategy.

The company reported domestic volumes of 1,17,000 units, a year-on-year growth of about 36 percent. Including exports, total sales reached 1,59,500 units, while cumulative production under the Made-in-India programme crossed the two-million-vehicle milestone.

One model, outsized impact

The standout story from 2025, however, is the role played by the Skoda Kylaq. The sub-4-metre SUV accounted for over 45,000 units during the year, contributing close to 40 percent of the group’s domestic volumes. For Skoda, the Kylaq’s performance helped the brand cross 70,000 units in annual sales, translating into 107 percent growth over the previous year.

Launched as Skoda’s first sub-4-metre SUV for India, the Kylaq has allowed the brand to compete directly in one of the country’s largest and most price-sensitive segments. Its success highlights how critical this category has become for manufacturers seeking volume growth in India.

For SAVWIPL, entering this segment has significantly altered its sales mix, reducing dependence on niche or higher-priced products.

The company has described the Kylaq as its key volume driver for 2025, noting that the model played a central role in stabilising and scaling Skoda’s India operations.

SAVWIPL credited its locally developed MQB-A0-IN platform as the backbone of its India strategy. Models based on this architecture have supported both domestic sales recovery and export expansion. According to the company, cumulative exports have now crossed 7,15,000 units, with shipments extending to new international markets.

Strong showing across other segments

While the Kylaq led volumes, other models also contributed meaningfully. The Volkswagen Virtus continued to dominate the midsize sedan segment, holding a reported 38 percent market share in 2025. Skoda’s Slavia, along with SUVs such as the Kushaq and Taigun, also maintained steady demand.

On the enthusiast end of the spectrum, limited-performance models like the Skoda Octavia RS and the Volkswagen Golf GTI sold out within days of their launches, indicating sustained interest in niche, premium offerings despite the group’s growing mass-market focus.

Network expansion and premium brands

To support rising volumes, SAVWIPL expanded its retail and service footprint to around 700 customer touchpoints across India. This wider network is expected to improve reach in smaller cities and enhance aftersales confidence—an important factor for buyers in competitive segments.

In the premium space, group brands also saw activity. Audi refreshed its SUV line-up with new variants, Porsche expanded to 13 sales points, Bentley opened new dealerships in major metros, and Lamborghini introduced the Temerario during the year.
